On Thursday 10th our school took part in the Hour of Code. This is a global movement where tens of millions of students in over 180 countries take part in computer programming workshops.
Two volunteers from HP, Michael & Oran, came in and worked with 2nd & 3rd class. They showed them how to code a Star Wars & a Minecraft programme. They also very kindly donated a printer to our school!!
That afternoon our Pupils IT committee, organised 2 workshops: one for 3rd & 4th class and one for 5th & 6th class. The students tried out some coding programmes based on scratch blocks while Senior students even did some work with Java. Our committee were on hand to help them every step of the way.
The whole day was a great success. The students had great fun and the teachers were impressed with the level of engagement pupils had with problem solving & maths concepts.
